Work safely in the construction industry (CPCCOHS1001A) is a unit of competency, which has been developed to meet the requirements of the National Code of Practice for Induction for Construction Work.


Are you aware that the White Card is now a requirement for all those working in the Building and Construction Industry?


Who needs to do the White Card?

•Persons with control of construction projects (e.g. principal contractors, project managers, main contractors, builders, employers, self employed persons)

•Persons with control of construction work (e.g. employers, self employed persons, principal contractors, main contractors, sub-contractors)

•Persons carrying out construction work (e.g. employees, contractors, labour-hire workers).

Course Objectives:
This course provides building and construction industry workers with the introductory understanding and knowledge needed to commence or continue work in the building and construction industry. Participants will acquire knowledge in the following areas:


•Appropriate legislative requirements and responsibilities

•Basic concepts of workplace health and safety plans and work method statements

•Physical building and construction hazards

•Basic risk management concepts including hazard identification, assessment of risk, control of risk and evaluation of control measures

•The hierarchy of controls (eliminate, substitute, redesign, isolate, administrate and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

•Emergency procedures.


Outcome:

After attendance and successful completion of the assessments, you will receive a Statement of Attainment. This will enable you to obtain your white card from Workplace Standards Tasmania.


Cost:
$190.00 per person (including $10.00 carding fee for Workplace Standards Tasmania).


Payment in full is required to secure your placement on the course. Alternatively, employment agencies and approved businesses, by prior arrangement may forward a signed purchase order and booking agreement to our office to confirm your position.

We have a program especially designed to recognise your prior learning (RPL) and move you straight into the refresher phase of the course.


Refresher for this qualification (half day program) is $100 per person.
